FOR ALL SEMI PERMANENT MAKEUP TREATMENTS
Firstly, we will have a consultation where I will explain the full procedure, take medical history and perform a patch test to check for skin allergies (don't worry this is incredibly rare). We will also discuss which treatment would be best for your skin type and lifestyle. When you're happy to go ahead, a £50 non refundable deposit will then be required to book your appointment (the cost of the deposit will come off the total treatment price).
At your treatment appointment, the shape of the brows will be drawn according to your facial measurements using special tools and taking into account your brow bone and facial features. Once you are happy with the shape we then choose the pigment that matches your hair and skin tone best.
The whole procedure will take approximately 2-3 hours to complete, and you'll be provided with after care instructions to follow at home for the next two weeks. You will then return after 6 weeks for a follow up appointment to check the brows and touch up any areas that require it.
THE DIFFERENT TYPES OF SEMI PERMANENT MAKEUP BROWS
The way to differentiate between each type of SPMU Brows comes down to the method in which pigment is implanted into the skin, also the overall effect achieved.
Microblading
The Microblading technique uses a pen-like tool to etch crisp, fine lines into your natural brows, so that they look just like individual hairs. These fine hair strokes follow the direction and length of your hairs for a flawless natural result. When done properly, it’s virtually impossible to tell the real ones from the ones that have been “drawn on”. Microblading would be best for clients who:
- Want a soft, natural look
- Have very healthy skin
- Want hair strokes
Combination
This process combines the manual method of Microblading for hair strokes and a machine for the shading. That way you keep the natural style of hair stokes but with the added definition of a powdery makeup look which can be layered up to be as soft or bold as you desire. I would recommend this method over Microblading if you are wanting a heavier makeup effect. Combination is best for clients who:
- Want hair strokes
- Want a soft to bold powdered look
Ombre
All Ombre means is that the tails of the brow are darker and more defined, fading as they reach the centre. This look is achieved by using a machine to place extremely small dots of pigment into the skin and building that up to create a pixelated, powdered look. Ombre Brows would be best for clients who:
- Have combination/oily skin
- Want anywhere from a soft to bold look
- Have mature skin
- Want no hair strokes
- Have sensitive skin
Powder
Powder Brows are where the brow is one colour from tip to end. This look, as with Ombre Brows, is achieved by using a machine to place extremely small dots of pigment into the skin and building that up to create a pixelated, powdered look. They can be as soft or bold as you like and there is a current trend for 'Borderless Brows' which are Powder Brows without a sharp outline, therefore making them look soft and delicate. Powder Brows would be best for clients who:
- Want anywhere from a soft to bold look
- Have combination/oily skin
- Want no hair strokes
- A cover up
- Have mature skin
- Have sensitive skin

Aftercare & Healing
Once you have had your Semi Permanent Makeup [SPMU] treatment, you MUST stick to the aftercare procedure for 2 weeks. The aftercare procedure is really important, it's as important as the treatment itself, following it is necessary to achieve the best results and if this is compromised in any way it will affect your healed result.
You must follow these 7 aftercare rules for 2 weeks:
- Do not touch them
- No direct sun exposure
- Avoid getting them wet (this includes rain, steam, shower spray and sweat)
- Do not pick, peel or scratch your new brows (this can cause scarring and infection)
- Avoid getting too hot (this will open your pores and potentially cause you to sweat)
- No excessive sweating (sweat contains salt which will prematurely fade your SPMU)
- No makeup or products directly on them (you can still wear makeup around your brows, just nothing directly on them)
Keep in mind that in many cases some unevenness of colour is to be expected, this is the purpose of the retouch visit which is included in your initial treatment price.
Healing Stages
You have an initial healing period of around 2 weeks (where you will stick to the aftercare procedure) and this is where you'll notice the most changes. It can be a bit of an emotional roller coaster during this time as they will change in appearance every day. After the treatment they will get darker over about 3 days, this is the scabs forming. Over the next 11-ish days the scabs will flake away on their own, it's important not to pick or peel during this stage as you could cause scarring or infections. Once the brows have healed it will look like they've disappeared, this is completely normal as your skin heals over the pigment and the pigment has to push back through. This can take up to 4-6 weeks. The length of the healing period varies person to person but generally follows the stages shown in the image below:
Helpful Information
It takes 3 months - The whole process, including the retouch and full healing time is 2-3 months (depending on which type of SPMU you have) so bare this in mind if you're wanting them done for a special occasion or holiday.
2 week healing period - During this time your brows could become flaky due to scabbing and you aren't able to wear makeup on them so avoid any special occasions during this period. Also be aware that after your retouch you will have another 2 week healing period too.
Keep out of the sun - Winter is actually the best time to have SPMU because you need to shield your new brows from the sun for a whole month after the treatment and again after the retouch. If you've planned a holiday to somewhere hot you'll need to be careful in protecting your brows from the sun and excessive sweating, it's best to avoid warm holidays for 1 month post treatment.
Retinoids, Chemical Peels, Accuatne - Because of what these chemicals do to your skin it's necessary to wait at least 6 weeks before any SPMU treatments can be performed. For Accutane it is essential to wait at least 6 months for the skin to fully recover.
SPMU takes upkeep -You will need to come back for Colour Boosts, this can be whenever you like but the average is around 12-18 months. Also, your hairs will continue to grow so you will need to keep up with waxing or threading and possibly tinting to keep them looking fresh. I also advise waiting at least 1 year between Colour Boosts to allow the skin time to fully heal. Plus there is only so much space within the skin that pigment can cover so having them redone too regularly will result in little to no pigment retention over time.
It doesn't replace makeup - If you are wearing heavy makeup on your whole face you will, more than likely, still need to put makeup on your brows. If you're not wearing makeup your SPMU should be enough but remember that between Colour Boosts they will gradually fade, meaning makeup or tinting may be required.
It will stay where it's put - When the design is first drawn on, make sure you are happy with where it's placed and if it's placed outside of where your natural hairs grow you MUST keep up with waxing or threading otherwise you will look like you have '4 brows'. It is best to keep as much hair in the design as possible to prevent this issue.
